The “Stars & Stripes” Committee is comprised of members of our Post Legion Family that work with the post commander to improve our post. Their efforts have raised over $25,000.00 since the fall of 2014, mainly from weekly dinners and supporting Legion events. The money raised has been used to fund Post projects, such as replacing the hall floor, and community support, over $3,000.00 in 2017 for charitable donations to the area food shelf, Toys for Tots, Honor Flight, the Monroe County Honor Guard, the Town Youth Fishing Derby, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Blue Star Mothers, and emergency grants to members of the Legion Family experiencing unexpected hardship.
The “Stars & Stripes” Committee’s immediate goals are to continue to raise funds for the kitchen renovation, to continue to make significant donations to area charities and stand ready to assist members of our Legion Family in need. the Rush-Henrietta food shelf and Toys for Tots, to stand ready to aid those members of our Legion Family who require it, to support our Scouts, our ill, injured and hospitalized Legion family members and our community.
It doesn’t take anything other than a willingness to work and a desire to accomplish something to be a member of the “Stars & Stripes” Committee”. If you want to join, call Irma (585-315-4654 / email@example.com) or Kevin (585-746-8450 / firstname.lastname@example.org), or just drop in and ask someone. We always have a need for more kitchen help, there are a lot of other projects that need volunteers as well.
Until mid-November, the “Stars & Stripes” committee was known as the “Legion Ladies”. At that time it was noted that not all of the “Ladies” were legionnaires, and not all of the Legionnaires were “Ladies”. To prevent confusion we have changed our name to a more inclusive moniker.
